Getting Here

Travel to Teach can advise and support you with all your travel arrangements. Purchase your ticket and confirm your date and time of arrival with Travel to Teach. We will then make arrangements for a representative to meet you.

Reception

We will meet you on arrival at the local aitport or bus station and accompany you to the project sites. You will be shown around the town and introduced to Vietnamese culture and language. Travel to Teach representatives will prepare you for your placement, going through material, discussing possible lesson plans and techniques.

Food

Food is paid for by our volunteers. Some schools have paid lunch for the students but teachers often go home for their lunch. Volunteers can choose to have meals in local restaurants or can return to the dorms to cook their lunch.

Volunteer Work

The hours of work will vary depending upon the type of work chosen by the volunteer. The majority of our volunteers work as teachers/classroom assitants which typically involves working 2 to 4 hours a day with weekends free, although this can vary, especially if volunteers are working at summer camps, restoration camps etc. Depending on your knowledge and interests you can also assist in and take part of a variety of different activities outside of normal teaching hours such as evening classes.

Living

T2T currently has dorms in Quoc Oai, Hanoi and Saigon. Elsewhere you will either stay in a guest house (Na Trang) or at a homestay with a Vietnamese familly if you are worknig in a small village. Homestays provide you with a clean and friendly environment, however they are with typical Vietname famillies so don't expect too many luxuries.

We will supply you with the telephone numbers of the local T2T English speaking personnel.

Vaccinations

See your doctor at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to allow time for immunizations to take effect. We principally do not advise on vaccinations but refer you to your local clinic.

Also visit the WHO's (World Health Organization) Travellers health information.

Insurance

Please purchase health and travel insurance independently. You need health insurance that will cover medical treatment and repatriation in case of accident or illness.

Visas

You will receive detailed information on obtaining a Vietnamese visa upon application.

Certification

You will get a Travel to Teach certificate stating the time and place you have been teaching.
