Getting Here

Travel to Teach can advise and support you with all your travel arrangements. Purchase your ticket and confirm your date and time of arrival with Travel to Teach. We will then make arrangements for a representative to meet you.

Reception

We will meet you on arrival at the local airport or bus station and accompany you to the project sites. You will be shown around the town and introduced to Vietnamese culture and language. Travel to Teach representatives will prepare you for your placement, going through material, discussing possible lesson plans and techniques.

Food

Nha Trang is packed with places to eat. From local street food such as noodles and baguettes to international favorites such as pizza and steak there are also two supermarkets with a good selection of products. We have a fridge but no cooking facilities in the dorm so you can store things such as yoghurt and milk.

Volunteer Work

The hours of work will vary depending upon the type of work chosen by the volunteer. The majority of our volunteers work as teachers/classroom assitants which typically involves working 2 to 4 hours a day with weekends free, although this can vary, especially if volunteers are working at summer camps, restoration camps etc. Depending on your knowledge and interests you can also assist in and take part of a variety of different activities outside of normal teaching hours such as evening classes.

Accommodation

Travel to Teach has a volunteer flat located close to central Nha Trang. The dorm has a western bathroom, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen with fridge, microwave and cooking facilities and a living room.

Vaccinations

See your doctor at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to allow time for immunizations to take effect. We principally do not advise on vaccinations but refer you to your local clinic.

Also visit the WHO's (World Health Organization) Travellers health information.

Insurance

One of the conditions of entry onto our programs is that volunteers have travel insurance. Most importantly the insurance needs to include medical treatment and repatriation in case of unforeseen accidents or illnesses. Volunteers should purchase insurance independently and bring a copy of their insurance certificate with them for their local co-ordinator to check before starting their program. Read our terms and conditions.

Visas

Please see our visa information page for details.

Certification

You will get a Travel to Teach certificate stating the time and place you have been teaching.

"I chose to come to Vietnam as a volunteer because I didn't want to be a tourist. I was looking for a cultural shock. A chance to live and work in a completely new environment. I definitely found that here during my stay..."
