Thailand Volunteer Story: Michael

Thailand Volunteer Image

I decided to volunteer in Nongkhai because I was interested in learning about Buddhism, and the temple stay option allowed me to do that in a unique way, while at the same time providing me with a chance to give back.

I knew from past experiences that I enjoyed teaching English as a foreign language, however I hadn’t had much experience with children. I knew that teaching the novice monks would be challenging and fun, but it turned out to be even more. The kids were so well behaved and so eager to learn, not only was my “job” easy but I ended up making a few friends as well. I will never forget my time living at the Wat, and I definitely plan on doing it again some day.
