I had an amazing time in Nongkhai! it was sort of a last minute decision to finish off my travels in southeast asia, but definitely the highlight. it gave me a chance to truly experience thailand, not just as a tourist. I met so many wonderful people and had some very cool experiences. I would highly recommend "travel to teach". Kerstin is a great lady... she's the reason I decided to go with this program. After I met her, I knew that it was going to be a good choice.

I did a lot of different things.... teaching at business administration and Tourism College (hotel and restaurant English), working in small groups with students studying for the TOEFL exam, taught one evening class with the government officials, and picked up an evening class of 6 girls who just want to improve their English.

The "dorm" is a nice house in the centre of town. It is fairly modest, but clean and welcoming when there are lots of nice people around. The hammocks on the back balcony and definitely one of the great perks of the house. We spent lots of time just hanging out on the front lawn... that's where we ate most of our meals together, too.

As far as choosing a project, I think they're pretty flexible and you can do a little bit of a few different things if you want to.

All in all, it was an excellent experience. I wish I could go back!

Good luck to you!
