Volunteer Tanzania We are no longer sending volunteers to this location. Instead we will be concentrating on our Asia and Central America projects. For more information about these please take a look at our Asia and Central America project pages.
Perched on the edge of the African continent, watching over the warm, tropical waters of the Indian Ocean, Tanzania’s location and climate leaves nothing to be desired. With its rich and diverse history, an infusion of cultural traditions, and breath-taking natural landscapes, Tanzania has just about everything to offer, even the most seasoned of travellers. Whether you are tracking the migration across the immense plains of the Serengetti, testing your stamina on an awe-inspiring climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, exploring the beauty and uniqueness of white lava volcanoes, relaxing on the Swahili island of Zanzibar, or experiencing nomadic life with Masaai and hunter gatherers; your memories of our beautiful country will stay with you always.
Tanzanians enjoy a climate of freedom and peace, and value community and a sense of unity very highly. Religion and traditions are an expression of community and culture, and one that binds Tanzanian citizens to our country and to the people and countries around us. Illustrations of this can be seen in everything we surround ourselves with, such as our bright and colourful clothing, traditional tribal jewellery, finely crafted carvings, and of course, our precious Tanzanite gems.
Unfortunately, poverty continues to challenge the economical balance of Tanzania, and a large proportion of the population are deprived access to education, health care, housing and sanitation.
