Merry Christmas From Travel to Teach!!
As the end of 2010 draws near we’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! An extra special mention goes out to the 37 volunteers who will be working at our projects over the holiday season. It’s been a great year for Travel to Teach and we are looking forward to an even better 2011.
New Project - Peru
When Suzy, an 18 year old gap year student, found a young autistic boy beaten and unconscious on the street she was compelled to take action. Eight years on Suzy has opened four centres for special needs children offering activities for them and outreach support for their parents. Volunteers are needed to help out with activites such as drama and music workshops, art therapy and cookery classes.

New Project - Cambodia
Siem Reap, yes you’ve guessed right… it is the place where Angkor Wat is but it is so much more than that. Our partner organisation is a small orphanage located minutes away from the temples. Volunteers are needed to work closely with the residents teaching English and Art projects. If you have an art background or are simply a keen an amature we would love to hear from you!
For more information please see our Siem Reap page.
Volunteer Fundraising
Owen Gorman came to South East Asia at the start of 2010, after a brief stint in Thailand he went to our Phnom Penh project. He was so impressed by the work that our coordinator, Muoy and the school have been doing that he decided to hold a fundraiser in his home town back in Ireland.
Owen’s friends and family raised a massive $3000 which has been used to put child friendly rubber tiles in the gym, library and bathroom and buy much needed teaching resources. In addition to this Own also shipped out a whopping 50kg of school supplies. A big thank you to Owen and everyone who contributed!
