Volunteer Stories | Alice and Tayla
Finishing our placement at Mt. Makalu has been heartbreaking. The kids there are filled with life and such an eagerness to learn.
The staff and teachers accept you as if you were one of their full time teachers and treat you with such respect. We left the school in tears today after saying goodbye to all of the students.
Leaving our homestay family was even harder. Every member of the family was so amazing. The food came in plentiful amounts, as did their love. They entertained us and took us sightseeing, included us in their family as if we were one of them. The children in the family are some of the sweetest we have ever met. They are an amazing group of people who I will never forget. My time in Nepal has been amazing, and I owe it all to Mt. Makalu and the Thapa family. They made our volunteer experience a special one.
